Simply put, Wonderful Home Builders never takes short cuts. That’s because owner Aaron Perkins puts his heart and soul into making sure every house is built to provide a lifetime of memories.
“I grew up in Minnetonka and was always fascinated by the up-scale, custom-built homes in our community,” says Perkins. “My family has been going to the Parade of Homes since I was very young, and from that time the dream of building homes captured my imagination.”
When other children were playing fireman and cops and robbers, Aaron was building his first tree fort at the age of eight. Then he would visualize the next one and start again from scratch. At the age of 12 he built a tree house that slept six with glass windows, carpet, a drop-down staircase and shingled roof.
After graduating college with a business degree, he worked for a custom builder in Door County, Wisconsin as a finish carpenter and framing craftsman specializing in custom high-end homes. Later he further honed his craft working for another high-end custom builder in the Minnetonka area. He’s personally done the labor in almost every area of residential construction so he knows first-hand when something is done right or wrong.
After gaining the necessary experience, he started a remodeling company specializing in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, wall removals, decks, additions, siding, roofing and windows. After doing this for four years he decided to focus on roofing and siding because he felt it was so fun and rewarding to completely transform exteriors and improve the look of neighborhoods. Three years after starting Wonderful Roofing & Siding (gowonderful.com), he custom-built the home he lives in today.
“Building is my passion,” says Perkins. “When I am building a home I am constantly thinking about it and coming up with the best way to make each detail awesome. That’s why I only commit to one or two homes at a time. I don’t cut corners on quality of construction or the finishing details, and I truly believe that makes a difference. I’m always trying to make each detail look amazing.”
